Leh Ladakh Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Leh – Rest & Acclimatize

Land at Leh 3500m. Don’t wander far. Rest, hydrate, eat light. Altitude sickness hits hard if you push day 1. Walk around Leh Market in the evening if you feel okay.
Stay: Guesthouse in Leh

Note: No trekking yet. This day makes or breaks the trip.

Day 2

Leh Local Sightseeing + Acclimatization

Easy day to keep moving without exertion. Visit Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery. Check gear, meet guide, buy any last supplies.
Stay: Leh

Day 3

Drive Leh to Spitok, Trek to Zingchen 3400m

1 hr drive to Spitok. Start trek along Indus River into Hemis National Park. 3-4 hrs to Zingchen. You’ll see blue sheep and maybe snow leopard signs.
Stay: Camp
Time: 3-4 hrs trekking

Day 4

Zingchen to Yurutse 4200m via Rumbak

Trek through Rumbak village, up to Yurutse. The altitude starts to bite here. 5-6 hrs. Views of Stok Kangri open up.
Stay: Camp
Time: 5-6 hrs

Day 5

Yurutse to Skiu 3400m via Ganda La 4980m

Big day. Cross Ganda La pass, then descend steeply to Skiu village. 7-8 hrs. This is the highest point before Markha La. Pack layers – it’s windy and cold at the top.

Time: 7-8 hrs

Day 6

Skiu to Markha 3700m

Follow Markha River, crossing it 6-7 times. Pass old ruins, chortens, and the Markha monastery. Easier 5-6 hrs. Good day to recover after Ganda La.

Day 7

Markha to Thochungtse 4200m via Hankar

Trek through Hankar village, the last permanent settlement. Valley gets narrower and wilder. 4-5 hrs. You’re now heading toward Markha La.
Stay: Camp

Day 8

Thochungtse to Nimaling 4700m via Markha La 5150m

Tough day. Climb to Markha La pass, then drop to Nimaling plains. 6-7 hrs. Nimaling is a huge grazing ground with views of Kang Yatse. Altitude is serious here – move slow.
Stay: Camp

Day 9

Nimaling to Kongmaru La 5150m, Trek to Shang Sumdo, Drive to Leh

Cross Kongmaru La, descend to Shang Sumdo. 6-7 hrs trekking + 1 hr drive to Leh. This is the last pass. Celebrate in Leh tonight.
